In the newest (first?) poster for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug1, our small hero arrives at the front door of a very large Dragon.

As we noted Friday, The Desolation of Smaug‘s first trailer will likely premiere this week.

Do you take the view of critics who faulted the film for being “drawn-out” and “boring”?

Or do you eagerly await this year’s (presumably lucky!) date of Friday, Dec. 13?

I want this movie so so so bad. The first movies was everything it was supposed to be: cinematic, tender at times, uproariously funny at others. I’d have liked it to be a little more related to the book (I always do), but I was shocked at how well it all fit. All the mythos and the word choices and the setting and the . . . everything just worked. I’m not exactly a movie critic, but it works. My biggest quibble was that the Riddles in the Dark scene didn’t include ALL the riddles. 😉

What say you?
