· June 2004 · for ,

A boy with fiery breath … a girl with dragon wings …

Outcasts Billy and Bonnie must come together to preserve a secret legacy more than a millennium in the making. They find their lives turned upside down when they are thrust into a war against evil, a war they didn’t even know was being waged. Their newly formed friendship is tested and shaped as they are forced to fight a malevolent slayer who wields a powerful, medieval weapon and is intent on exterminating their dragon heritage forever.

Raising Dragons is a hair-raising, modern-day Arthurian adventure and a glimpse into another world filled with knights, dragons, and fair maidens fighting to destroy evil.

Book 1 of the Dragons In Our Midst series.

  1. Kessie says:

This is a pretty good book. The characters are believable, the story is well-paced. I enjoyed meeting the two kids and their nifty dragon-esque powers, and the bad guy, the Dragon Slayer, is suitably nasty and supernatural by turns. I did have a problem with the boy’s sudden, inexplicable hatred of his father, which I didn’t understand, and also the book’s sudden ending, prompting you to buy the next book. (Which wasn’t out when I read this one).
On the whole, though, this is a pretty good read for pre-teens looking for some solid fantasy. Get the whole series at once, though, because the ending of book 1 will leave you dissatisfied and wanting more.
