Attention all decks,

This is the captain speaking.

I’ve always wanted to say that, not from the airplane cabin, but here from my new position on the highbridge of the starcraft Alpha Omega. In fact, my work aboard this ship for its mission is the top reason that this monthly(?) update was delayed.

You may already know this, but my debut sci-fi adventure, Above the Circle of Earth, launches this March 4 from the fine crew at Enclave Publishing/Oasis Audio. Wow!

More on that in this separate news post, plus this month’s Kickstarter for Josiah DeGraaf’s novel A Study of Shattered Spells.

And don’t miss our previous announcement about Marian A. Jacobs’s On Magic and Miracles, which releases this July 1.

First, however, you deserve a summary of all the big upgrades at Lorehaven.com:

  1. Front page. Lorehaven’s landing looks a lot shinier, no matter your device.
  2. Library search. Straight from the front page, enter any keyword and search 1,370+ Christian-made fantastical novels.1 You can also use advanced options to filter by reader ages, genres, authors, and even publishers. (We’ve also cleaned up the Library by upgrading many listings and removing a few that don’t qualify.)
  3. Podcast giveaways. This year we began offering free drawings to listeners who share particular episodes, such as for Jill Williamson’s Squire of Truth, Clint Hall’s Echo Nova, and my own sci-fi novel. Keep listening for more chances to win.
  4. Book Quests return. We’re testing shorter quests into reviewed books.
  5. Reviews will also return. The harvest is great, but the laborers are few!
  6. Speculative Faith, integrated! Thousands of articles are now unified.
  7. New books from Lorehaven creators. This includes myself (E. Stephen Burnett), Josiah DeGraaf, and Marian A. Jacobs.

How often does your family confront these challenges?

“Help! My child reads too fast. I need to find trusted stories!”

“I’m getting tired of secular fiction …”

“How do we avoid ‘agendas’ in books?

“What about story magic and witchcraft?”

“Isn’t sci-fi all about godless humanism?”

“Which fantasy books are safe for my kids?”

“Where can I find good Christian fantastical fiction?”

Here’s the solution: our new Library search.

This powerful tool helps readers find the most excellent Christian-made fantastical fiction for God’s glory and their good—and their family’s good!

Lorehaven’s library draws from our custom database of 1,370+ library listings and 320+ of our own reviews.1

Each listed novel is entered in the Library only if the book is:

  1. Authored by a professing Christian
  2. Fantastical in genre—fantasy, sci-fi, supernatural
  3. Published or pre-published—including professional indie published books)

How to use the Library search

You can search by:

This year, you can say goodbye to “agendas,” secular propaganda, and just plain cringe Christian stuff.

We’ll help you find the best Christian-made fantastical fiction for Christ’s glory!

  1. That figure is current as of this news release.
E. Stephen Burnett explores fantastical stories for God’s glory as publisher of Lorehaven.com and its weekly Fantastical Truth podcast. He coauthored The Pop Culture Parent and creates other resources for fans and families, serving with his wife, Lacy, in their central Texas church. Stephen's first novel, the sci-fi adventure Above the Circle of Earth, launches in March 2025 from Enclave Publishing. Full bio | contact
