Here’s The Link To Rowling’s New ‘Harry Potter’ Story

Fantastic short stories and where to find them: at Pottermore.com.

Harry_Potter_british_booksThis morning I saw everything about J.K. Rowling’s new short story about Harry Potter1 except the link to the actual story.

Apparently one must join the Pottermore website to access the story, which isn’t credited to Rowling but to in-universe gossip columnist Rita Skeeter. Once you join, here’s the direct link (for US users) to the story.

If I might proffer a smoky globe from the Ministry’s collection of prophecies: Rowling won’t be able to avoid the wizarding world for too much longer. And I’d wager goblin’s gold that even her skip-to-the-screenplay Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films — about a pre-Potter story featuring Newt Scamander, a wizarding version of Steve Irwin — will not be able to satiate her need to explore more.

Edit: Now I’ve finished the story, which (spoilers, of course) carries this little crossover:

“Magizoologist Newt” Scamander gets his own Potter spinoff films starting Nov. 18, 2016.

  1. By seeming coincidence, R.L. Copple in today’s SpecFaith article recalls the Christian “lynch mob” against the Harry Potter series.
E. Stephen Burnett explores fantastical stories for God’s glory as publisher of Lorehaven.com and its weekly Fantastical Truth podcast. He coauthored The Pop Culture Parent and creates other resources for fans and families, serving with his wife, Lacy, in their central Texas church. Stephen's first novel, the sci-fi adventure Above the Circle of Earth, launches in March 2025 from Enclave Publishing.
