Marian Jacobs Signs Deal for New Book Exposing Occult Magic Versus Fictional Magic
BREAKING—Fantasy writer and Lorehaven staff creator Marian Jacobs has just contracted with B&H Publishing to create a new magical resource.
Here’s Marian in her own words:
I HAVE BOOKISH NEWS!!!
I JUST SIGNED TWO CONTRACTS—one for a non-fiction book with B&H publishing (an imprint of Lifeway), and one with literary agent Steve Laube!! Having the chance to write on this topic and work with B&H as well as Steve is absolutely a dream come true!!
The book will be a scriptural analysis and guide to understanding and discerning fictional magic. Think of it as both a theology of magic as well as a book for parents, readers, writers, and anyone engaging with fictional magic.
However, I haven’t written it yet! For those of you who don’t know, non-fiction can be pitched to agents and editors either completed or with only a proposal. After the contract is signed, a deadline is set for the manuscript to be turned in. Mine will be next summer! (Fiction is different. You must have a completed, polished manuscript before you submit.)
As I take the next year to write this, I would love it if you would pray for me! I will be talking about and exposing the occult and the work of demons, and I have been feeling the weight of spiritual attack since the day I first pitched this idea. Satan’s best tactics are to distract, and that has been true more than ever lately. Please pray that God would be with me and guide me as I write. Pray that he would protect me and those around me. But God has been so so good to us this year! I know that next year I will be able to say with confidence that what Satan meant for evil, God meant for good!
Thank you so much for everyone who encouraged me along this path! I am so often amazed that God chose me to write for the good of his kingdom. But I know that all my confidence in this project is in him alone and not in me!
