Sojourner’s Path

In Sojourner’s Path, Amy Kurylo shows how a likable heroine’s ordinary life is interrupted by the spiritual world.

Allie’s life is fine enough, but not much better than that. Her nightmares disturb that settled evenness, and then a cancer diagnosis shatters everything. That news is almost enough to make her miss hints of strange forces creeping at the edges of her reality. In Sojourner’s Path, Amy Kurylo builds a world much like our own, only haunted by demons—most of them in plain sight. Slowly the story unveils its demon mythology, though its spiritual heart shows a Christian struggle of faith and obedience. The heroine, ordinary and likable, serves the story’s purposes. Minor characters stand out with more vivid colors. Although some readers may find the demonic presence odd or unpleasant, other readers will be engaged by this drama of an ordinary life interrupted by the strange designs of the spiritual world.

Best for: Fans of angel/demon stories and spiritual warfare novels.

Discern: A woman being stalked and attacked, one scene alluding to child sexual abuse material, some grotesque imagery, mild vulgar language, demon portrayals being speculative or mythologized instead of strictly theological.
