Squashing The Comment Gremlins

Our new system fixes glitches, with a few trade-offs.

looneytunes_fallinghare_gremlinSpeculative Faith webslinger’s update —

Several of you have noted some issues posting comments. We still haven’t been sure what’s caused that.

However, our comment system is overdue for an update anyway. Ever tried to hit “reply” to a comment? Chances are you end up chasing the reply box all the way across the page.

As of today, that annoyance is gone, and apparently so is the annoyance of not being able to comment at all.

Also, you can now log in to comment with your existing Facebook, Twitter, or WordPress account.

We’ve had to make a few trade-offs, which we hope are temporary:

  1. Those wonderful buttons for formatting comments as you type are gone (temporarily?).
  2. The “Comment Luv” feature, allowing auto-fetching and promotion of your own most recent blogs doesn’t work with the new comments system either (at least for now).
  3. Both the comment-subscribe and blog-subscribe options are different.

How do these features work? Let us know of any other comment-posting difficulties or requests.

Update Friday, June 21: We’ve had to revert to the previous comment system. The new one refused to allow non-Spec-Faith members to comment. Go figure? Yes, I will. Further update: New comment system back up and tested. Try it out.
