Trouble in the CTC!

Twelve-year-old Zach Platt works alone on the spaceship Constellation while everyone else stays in cryosleep. The titular trouble arrives when a small hole opens in the Combat Training Center. Can Zach learn to make repairs before that hole threatens all of the ship? Character moments stand out between Zach and the ship’s artificial intelligence as well as Zach’s pet alien. The style is simple yet enhanced by simple black-and-white illustrations. T. D. Patrick’s craft maintains wholesome gravity levels for this re-entry into the Terra Prime Adventures series, raising suitable stakes for engaging characters.

Best for: Fans of Star Trek or Lost in Space, family read-alouds, or children ready for chapter books.

Discern: Mildly scary moments of a child in danger.
