Tilly
“Written in 1986, Frank E. Peretti’s novelette Tilly may feel melodramatic to today’s readers, but remains a tearful tale of brokenness and redemption.”
—Lorehaven on Jun 24, 2022

The Wonderland Trials
“Although indebted to a classic, The Wonderland Trials is inventive and colorful in its own right, abundantly able to charm and to intrigue.”
—Lorehaven on Jun 24, 2022

Rise of the Earthborn
“Societal intrigue plus steampunk flair and a dash of romance help make Emma Buenen’s Rise of the Earthborn a solid extra-biblical adventure.”
—Lorehaven on Jun 17, 2022

Elite
“Elite explores parallels to the early Church, beautifully intertwining faith and action in this high-stakes post-apocalyptic adventure.”

Lost Bits

We’ve chosen Kerry Nietz’s freshly cast robo-drama as our next Book Quest in the Lorehaven Guild, exclusive to free Lorehaven email subscribers.
Lorehaven on Jun 2, 2022 · No comments

Starting on Monday, June 6, the robots will overrun our server. Scarcely has the ink dried on Kerry Nietz’s new sci-fi standalone Lost Bits before we’ve chosen this robo-drama as our next Book Quest selection in the Lorehaven Guild, exclusive to free Lorehaven email subscribers.

We invite readers teens and older, who love hard-edged yet warm-hearted sci-fi, to join this new Book Quest.

Kerry NietzAbout Lost Bits author Kerry Nietz

Kerry Nietz is an award-winning science fiction author. His novel A Star Curiously Singing won the Readers Favorite Gold Medal Award for Christian Science Fiction and is notable for its dystopian, cyberpunk vibe in a world under sharia law. It  is often mentioned on “Best of” lists. Among his writings, Kerry’s most talked about is the genre-bending Amish Vampires in Space. AViS was mentioned on the Tonight Show and in the Washington Post, Library Journal, and Publishers Weekly. Newsweek called it “a welcome departure from the typical Amish fare.” Kerry is a refugee of the software industry, a husband, father, technophile and movie buff.

Lost Bits, Kerry NietzLorehaven reviews Lost Bits:

K-404 awakens and finds himself in a robot’s grave. Soon he recovers power and motive: he is a caretaker unit, created to serve his assigned family. Why then can’t he remember their fate or the reason he was abandoned in this vast inhuman land? Kerry Nietz’s robo-drama Lost Bits follows the earnestly heroic Four as he finds new allies and fights rogue bots to preserve his purpose. Clipped prose mimics Four’s thought mechanics, while endearing side characters support the android’s quest. Lost Bits boldly leads fans out of dead wastelands into celebrations of life, exploring the nature of humankind through the lenses of a human creation.

Best for: Fans of simple science fiction guided by deeper algorithms.

Discern: Bot-on-bot violence, often involving robo-rebels.

Lorehaven Guild logo 1.1About the Lorehaven Guild

The Lorehaven Guild serves a community of heroes who gather to celebrate Christian-made fantastical fiction with delight and discernment. These stories include (but are not limited to) fantasy, science fiction, and beyond.

Heroes of the Guild will explore their favorite creative works in these genres. We will focus on Christian-made stories, yet occasionally include general market books.

Guild heroes can join monthly Main Quest parties that travel into the fantastical worlds of new books. We will explore these stories’ beauty, goodness, and truth (and opposites!), applying their meanings to the real world of our ultimate Author.

Heroes can also join occasional Side Quest parties that travel into other books, such as older Christian-made stories or general market novels.
